Switzerland’s general classification of economic activities, maintained by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). NOGA 2025 adopts NACE Rev. 2.1 unchanged at its first four levels — all 651 classes match code for code — and adds a Swiss 6-digit level of 798 types.

History

NOGA has mirrored NACE since NOGA 1995, through NOGA 2002 and NOGA 2008, keeping Switzerland comparable with EU statistics despite being outside the Union. NOGA 2025 aligns with NACE Rev. 2.1.

Usage & importance

Used by the FSO for statistics and by the Swiss commercial register and AHV/AVS administration. Levels 1–4 are exactly NACE Rev. 2.1, so European conversions are one-to-one. NOGA also ships a large alphabetical index of activity keywords.
