Sweden’s standard industrial classification, maintained by Statistics Sweden (SCB). SNI 2025 adopts NACE Rev. 2.1 unchanged at its first four levels — all 651 classes match code for code — and adds an 835-entry Swedish 5-digit level for national detail.

History

SNI has followed the European standard since SNI 92, through SNI 2002 and SNI 2007. SNI 2025 brings Sweden onto NACE Rev. 2.1 while preserving the deeper national level that Swedish business registers rely on.

Usage & importance

Used by SCB, Bolagsverket and the Swedish Tax Agency for statistics and company registration. Because levels 1–4 are exactly NACE Rev. 2.1, conversion to other European systems is one-to-one.
