History

The Nomenclature d’Activités Française has mirrored NACE since 1993 (révisions in 2003 and 2008). The 2025 edition aligns with NACE Rev. 2.1 and renews the national subclass level.

Usage & importance

Assigned by INSEE to every French enterprise and establishment (code APE) and used across statistics, social security and public procurement. Levels 1–4 are exactly NACE Rev. 2.1.
