What 13 includes

• This division encompasses the activities of preparing textile fibers, spinning, and weaving (flat or non-flat). Textile fibers can be natural (cotton, silk, linen, wool, ramie, jute, sisal, etc.) or chemical (artificial and synthetic). The preparation of natural textile fibers consists of processes such as washing, carbonization, carding, combing, and others.
• Spinning is an intermediate process in the textile production chain and uses natural and chemical fibers as inputs.
• The manufacture of fabrics is done using different techniques: the weaving of flat fabrics results from the interlacing of two sets of yarns that cross at right angles; knitting results from the formation of loops that interpenetrate and support each other laterally and vertically, originating from one or more yarns; and non-woven fabric is obtained directly from layers of fibers that are bonded to each other by physical and chemical means, forming a continuous sheet, such as felts and fillings.
• This division also includes finishing activities for yarns, fabrics, and textile and clothing articles. Finishing activities can be carried out on fibers, yarns, and fabrics and consist of a series of operations that prepare textile products for their intended use. These may include: bleaching, dyeing, printing, and others.

What 13 excludes

• This division does not include the manufacture of artificial and synthetic fibers produced in the chemical industry (section C - division 20), the manufacture of fiberglass (section C - division 23) and the manufacture of clothing articles (section C - division 14).
