What 33 includes

• This Industry Division includes specialised repair of machinery, equipment and other products produced in the manufacturing sector with the aim to restore such products to working order. Also included is the provision of general or routine maintenance on such products to ensure they work efficiently and to prevent breakdown and unnecessary restoration work.
• This Industry Division does only include establishments specialising in repair and maintenance activities. A substantial amount of repair is also done by manufacturers of machinery and equipment, in which the classification of units engaged is done according to the manufacturing activities they performed. The same principle is applied for establishments engaged in combined trade and repair.
• This Industry Division also includes establishments specialising in installation of industrial machinery and equipment, as well as large-scale uninstallation service. However, the installation of equipment that forms an integral part of buildings or structures, such as installation of electrical wiring, installation of escalators, installation of air-conditioning systems or installation of burglar alarm systems, is classified as construction.
• This Industry Division excludes the cleaning of industrial machinery (see 812900), repair and maintenance of computers and communications equipment (see Industry Group 952 - Repair of computers and communications equipment), and repair and maintenance of household goods (see Industry Group 953 - Repair of personal and household goods).
