What 051 includes

  • This group includes the mining of hard coal, whether through underground or surface methods, and also encompasses mining by means of liquefaction techniques. It further covers activities such as cleaning, sizing, grading, pulverising, and compressing coal to classify it, enhance its quality, or make it easier to transport or store. Additionally, this class includes the recovery of hard coal from culm banks.

What 051 excludes

  • This group excludes lignite mining (see class 0520) . Peat digging is also excluded and is covered under class 0892. Support activities for hard coal mining, as well as test drilling related to coal mining, fall under class 0990. Additionally, the operation of coke ovens that produce solid fuels is classified under class 1910. The manufacture of hard coal briquettes, ovoids, and similar solid hard coal fuels is included under class 1920. Work carried out to develop or prepare properties for coal mining (see class 4312) .
