What 052 includes

• This group includes mining of lignite (brown coal) such as underground or surface mining, including mining through liquefaction methods and washing, dehydrating, pulverising, compressing of lignite to improve quality or facilitate transport or storage.

What 052 excludes

• This group excludes hard coal mining (see class 0510) . Peat digging is also excluded and falls under class 0892. Support activities related to lignite mining, as well as test drilling for coal mining, are covered under class 0990. The manufacture of lignite fuel briquettes, ovoids, and similar solid hard coal fuels is classified under class 1920. Additionally, any work carried out to develop or prepare properties for lignite mining (see class 4312) .
