Description

1. Overview Retail business refers to industrial activities involving the resale of personal and consumer goods (new and used items) to the general public without modification. This includes department stores, shops, street stalls, delivery or mail-order sales, consumer cooperatives, itinerant merchants, auctions, etc. Generally, these retailers hold ownership of the goods they sell and sell them, or they may sell goods on behalf of the owner through contracts (consignment) or commissions. While retail businesses typically involve opening display stores to facilitate easy purchase by the general public, they may also engage in sales through home visits, delivery, mobile sales, mail-order sales via electronic communications and mail, or attract customers through events. A. Since goods sold in the retail sector are limited to consumer goods, the sale of industrial machinery, equipment, and supplies—such as minerals, crude oil, industrial compounds, steel, and industrial machinery—is generally considered a wholesale business. B. Even if items such as hardware, machine tools, paint, and wood are industrial goods, they are considered a retail business if a store is opened to sell directly to the general public and they are sold directly to self-users. C. In relation to the sale of goods, processing activities that do not alter the essential nature of the goods (such as splitting, refrigeration, packaging, and cutting) may be incidental. D. In relation to retail activities, installation activities for personal and household goods sold by the seller may be incidental.

2. Forms of Retail Business A. General Retail Business: Refers to industrial activities that involve opening a store capable of direct sales to the general public and comprehensively retailing various goods, primarily food or non-food items. B. Specialized Retail Business: Refers to industrial activities that involve opening a store capable of direct sales to the general public and specializing in the retail of specific goods. This includes specialized retail businesses for specific new products and specialized retail businesses for specific used goods. C. Used Goods Retail Business: Refers to industrial activities that retail various used goods, such as used furniture, home appliances, and books. D. Non-Store Retail Business: Refers to industrial activities that retail various specific goods or comprehensive goods without opening a store (shop) capable of direct sales to the general public, utilizing e-commerce and other mail-order sales, sales attracting customers through events, delivery and door-to-door sales, street stalls, mobile sales, vending machines, and other non-store sales methods.

3. Relationship with other industries
