Description
This refers to industrial activities that process products produced in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries into food products and animal feed edible by humans or animals, and consists of industrial activities manufacturing processed meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables, animal and vegetable oils and fats, processed grains, dairy products, and other food products and animal feed. It also includes activities processing products specially processed into food, such as table salt, chemical seasonings, and health supplements, as well as non-edible meat powder, fish meal, and animal and vegetable oils. Activities involving the sorting, washing, and sorting of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products routinely performed at the point of production to ship them to the market are not classified as manufacturing activities.
