What E includes

• This section covers activities related to the treatment and disposal, collection, pre-treatment, recovery, and disposal of various types of waste (e.g., solid or non-solid industrial or household waste), including the organization of these activities.
• The end products of waste or wastewater treatment can either be disposed of or used as input in other production processes. Secondary raw materials are materials and products that can be used as raw materials through simple reuse or through recycling and recovery of waste. Water supply activities also fall under this section, as they are often carried out in conjunction with wastewater treatment, or by entities that are also involved in wastewater treatment.
• The activities further include the remediation of contaminated buildings and properties, soil, surface water, and groundwater (e.g., oceans, mangroves, seas), etc.
• Entities that typically handle waste disposal for their clients, thus becoming the clients' waste disposal company and then, in turn, billing their clients for waste disposal services, are assigned to Division 38. Even if these entities do not provide the services themselves, they are responsible for their fulfillment. This activity is considered a complete outsourcing of a service.
