Description

This refers to industrial activities involving the processing of waste (designated and non-designated), scrap, and other waste materials through physical or chemical transformation processes, or the dismantling and crushing of waste to convert it into metallic or non-metallic raw materials for recycling. It also includes activities for separating, classifying, and recovering recyclable metallic or non-metallic raw materials from continuously input mixed waste. While raw material recycling businesses often involve physical or chemical transformation processes, their primary purpose is waste treatment; additional processing is required for the outputs of raw material recycling (secondary raw materials) to be used as raw materials for manufacturing processes (primary raw materials such as iron, glass, paper, and plastic materials). Metallic and non-metallic raw material recycling businesses (38312, 38322), excluding the dismantling and sorting of metallic and non-metallic materials, were included in Major Category E considering the specific characteristics of the environmental industry, but they share similarities with manufacturing in terms of industrial activity.
