Description
Research and development activities are defined as creative and systematic activities aimed at increasing knowledge accumulation or applying available knowledge to new application sectors, targeting natural sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences (Frascati manual, OECD), and include basic research, applied research, and experimental development activities. 1. Basic Research – Experimental or theoretical research activities conducted to obtain new knowledge about the fundamental principles of phenomena or observable facts without any specific application or use plan. 2. Applied Research – Original inquiry conducted to obtain new knowledge, but research activities primarily tailored to specific practical goals or purposes. 3. Experimental Development – Systematic work activities utilizing existing knowledge acquired from research or actual experience to create new materials, products, or devices, or to establish and implement new processes, systems, and services, or to essentially improve all of these things.
