Where 01 sits

This division encompasses two areas of activity: the production of plant products and the production of animal products.
Mixed farming (Group 01.5) deviates from the usual basic rules for determining the main activity. It is recognized that many farms have a balance between plant and animal production, and it would be arbitrary to classify them in one category or the other.
This division also includes the cultivation of crops without soil, for example, using hydroponic and aquaponic methods.
RULE OF APPLICATION: In agriculture, breaking down the value chain often presents difficulties when an entity produces a product from its own agricultural output. For example, if an entity grows grapes and produces wine from the grapes it has grown, or if it grows olives and produces oil from the olives it has grown. In these cases, the most appropriate substitute variable is the number of hours of labor performed. Applying this variable to these vertically integrated activities would generally result in the entities being classified as agricultural. In order to ensure harmonized treatment, units for other agricultural products will be allocated to agriculture in accordance with the agreement in the same case.
This division also includes the agriculture and hunting related services, as well as trapping and related service activities.
