What J includes

  • This section covers the production, publishing, broadcasting, and other distribution of information products.
  • The publishing of books, newspapers, magazines, and software (Division 58); the production of films, videos, and television programs, the publishing of sound recordings and music (Division 59); the creation and distribution of radio and television programs, including the operation of streaming and download platforms, as well as content-sharing platforms not related to content publishing, the operation of blogs and wiki websites, social networks, and websites for online gaming/computer games (Division 60).
  • Publishing is defined as the acquisition of copyright to content (information products) and making that content available to the public by carrying out (or arranging for) its reproduction and distribution in various forms. Publishers may either publish and then grant licenses to others to distribute their content, or they may publish and distribute content they have created or own. This section covers all possible forms of publishing (in printed, electronic, digital, analog, or other formats) as well as self-publishing activities.
  • Individual components of television programs (e.g., feature films or television series) are classified under Division 59, while the production of entire programs for a television station, whether consisting of components under Division 59 or other elements (e.g., live news programs), falls under Division 60. The broadcasting of programs by the producing entity also falls under Division 60.
  • Creation and Leasing of copyright for published content
