Description
This sector comprises economic units primarily engaged in providing temporary lodging services in hotels, motels, casino hotels, cabins, villas, and similar establishments, as well as campsites and recreational lodges; guesthouses, boarding houses, and furnished apartments with hotel services; the preparation of food and beverages for immediate consumption on the premises or for takeout; catering services; and the preparation and service of alcoholic beverages for immediate consumption. For the most part, the guiding criterion for differentiating the branches of this sector was the type of establishment (hotels with or without facilities to provide other integrated services; lodging services in cabins, campsites, and boarding houses; and food preparation in restaurants and mobile units). Additionally, in the food preparation subsector, consideration was given to the fact that the economic units in the first branch prepare food to order, the second includes only economic units specializing in the preparation of alcoholic beverages, and the last includes those that prepare food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for immediate consumption on the premises or for takeout. The term "restaurant" is used generically in the food preparation subsector, meaning a place where food and beverages are prepared directly for the customer to consume immediately on the premises or to take away ready to eat.
