Subclass · Nomenclature d'Activités Française (2025)

Where 38.21Y sits

  1. E Water production and distribution ; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities
  2. 38 Collection, recovery and disposal of waste
  3. 38.2 Recovery of waste
  4. 38.21 Recovery of materials
  5. 38.21Y Recovery of materials

What 38.21Y includes

  • This sub-class includes, in the processing of waste, including debris, and other items of metal and non-metallic secondary raw materials.
  • This sub-class also includes the recovery of materials in the waste stream, (1) by separating and sorting the materials recovered in the flow of non-hazardous waste or (2) by separating and sorting of reclaimable materials mixed together (e.g. paper, plastics, drinks cans and used metals), in separate categories. The process of a mechanical or chemical transformation include:
  • Crushing, by a mechanical process, metallic waste (e.g. cars, washing machines or motorcycles used)
  • Reducing, by a mechanical process, to large metal objects (for example, railroad cars), the recovery of iron from clinker
  • The recovery of metals from waste photographic (e.g. the baths of fixation or of film or photographic paper)
  • Dismantling of wrecks of any type (automobiles, ships, computers, televisions and other equipment) for materials recovery
  • The production of rubber powder from waste and scrap of rubber, including the decontamination, the division (elimination) of the fractions and the dévulcanisation
  • Sorting, and the machine processing (e.g. grinding, cleaning) of plastics to produce secondary raw materials
  • Processing (maturation, cleaning, sorting) of bottom ash from incineration secondary raw materials (metals, aggregates)
  • Crushing, cleaning and sorting of glass
  • Crushing, cleaning and sorting of other waste (e.g. rubble and rubble) in order to obtain secondary raw materials
  • Processing of waste and residues in food, beverages and tobacco in secondary raw materials
  • The waste oil recycling, the transformation of fats and oils food waste into secondary raw materials, extraction of silver from waste chemical processes other than the electrolytic refining, the recovery of phosphorus from the incineration of sewage sludge
  • Recycling of textiles and clothing by mechanical, thermal or chemical, the production of compost waste
  • Biogas production from waste, except for the purposes of the supply of gas or electricity

What 38.21Y excludes

  • The manufacture of new final products from secondary raw materials, from or not the production (for example, the spinning of frayed, the manufacture of paper pulp from paper waste, retreading tyres or production of metal from metallic waste), see corresponding classes in section C
  • The reprocessing of uclear fuels, see 20.13Y
  • The redesign of the plastic for the production of pellets or compounds, see 20.16Y
  • The remelting of scrap iron, see 24.10Y
  • The production of biogas from waste for the purposes of the supply of gas, see 35.21Y
  • The energy recovery by thermal treatment of waste, see 38.22 Y
  • The disposal and treatment prior to disposal of waste without energy recovery, see group 38.3
  • Wholesale trade of waste materials, see 46.87Y
